Ofsted Report

Ofsted Report, July 2014, Summary

Having opened as a new school in September 2012, our first ever Ofsted report is extremely encouraging.  The report shows the school to be good with outstanding features and recognises that outstanding leadership has led to establishing a good school within a short time.  We are excited about building on this strong foundation as we seek to move to outstanding in all areas.

Comments from the report include:

  • Outstanding leadership by the headteacher, leaders and governors has established a good school within a short time.
  • Pupils make good progress.
  • Teaching is good, because staff have high expectations.
  • Provision for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent.  It is embedded in the subjects taught and in the ethos of the school.
  • The school’s work to keep pupils safe and secure is outstanding.
  • The school is a caring and nurturing place in which pupils behave well and get on well with each other.  Pupils and adults care for and respect each other.
  • The headteacher and the governing body are very ambitious for the school and have secured sustainable improvements in teaching and achievement over the last two years.
  • The senior team of the headteacher, Early Years Foundation Stage Leader, and the Trust Director of Education work especially well together.
  • The school is supported very ably by the governing body, which plays a crucial role in leading the strategic overview.

The report also states:  There is a clear vision for further improvement and a strong determination to bring this about.

We are delighted that our report includes this comment, because it reflects the aim of our whole school community to move the school forward to be the best it can be for our pupils and families.

We are grateful to our parents, carers and pupils who took the time to speak to inspectors during the inspection.  It is fantastic to read on the Ofsted Parent View Survey that 100% of respondents would ‘recommend our school to another parent’.

We have outstanding children at our school and we are very proud of them.  They can be pleased to read Ofsted’s report and to know that their excellent approach to school has been acknowledged.  With such fantastic children and a strong school community we know that, by God’s grace, Emmanuel Community School will go from strength to strength.
