Sport Funding

At Emmanuel Community School, we recognise the contribution of Physical Education (PE) to the health and well-being of children and we are committed to promoting participation in sport from an early age. We believe that a varied, innovative, PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude, academic achievement and well being of all our children.

The government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for 5 academic years to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

How much money will we receive in 2016/17 for School Sports Funding?

We will receive £8415.00 Primary School Sports Funding for this academic year

We have used this additional funding to appoint specialist Sport Coaches, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to work with us, to subsidise early morning gymnastics and after school Basketball club and multi sports activities.

Their remit is to work with our staff and children in their PE lessons and in After School Clubs to provide a relaxed, fun and enjoyable environment where children can learn and gain knowledge of different sports, grow and develop a more positive attitude and build their confidence by participating in exciting group activities and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Emmanuel Community School want our children, whatever their circumstances or background to enjoy and participate safely in a variety of sports and team exercises.  For this reason our Year 2 children have had weekly swimming lessons in our Autumn Term and our Year 1 children will have weekly swimming lessons during the Summer Term at a local pool with qualified coaches guiding.  We have also invested in new sports equipment for breaks and lunch times and our children are encouraged to ride their scooters or bikes to and from school and in this regard we have installed a designated area for these to be stored.

We have more exciting sporting activities in the pipeline for all our pupils in the summer term
