A Christian School in the heart of Walthamstow.
Section 8 Ofsted Inspection on 4th December 2018
I am delighted to inform you that we have received the report of our recent Ofsted inspection.
Section 8 inspections are short inspections of schools judged to be good at their most recent section 5 inspection and those outstanding schools that are not exempt from section 5. We received this kind of inspection, since we were graded good at our most recent previous inspection, of July 2014.
The purpose of a short inspection is to determine whether the school continues to provide a good standard of education and whether safeguarding is effective.
I am glad to say that our report shows that our school continues to provide a good standard of education and that safeguarding is effective.
We are delighted that this is the case, because it is encouraging to our whole school community.
I would like to thank all of our stakeholders, including you, for the significant contribution made to the continuing success of our school.
I am sure that you would like to read the report, which takes the form of a three and a half page letter addressed to me as headteacher. (The fact that it is addressed to me is because of Ofsted procedure. Please know that this letter is to all of us.) It is available to download here:-
We are heartened by our report and grateful for the next steps provided. We are excited about getting focused on these targets quickly and with passion.
We thank God for His continuing provision for our school and pray that He will sustain us as we press towards outstanding in all areas.
Kindest regards,
Peter Lewis
Headteacher

Ofsted Report, July 2014, Summary
Having opened as a new school in September 2012, our first ever Ofsted report is extremely encouraging. The report shows the school to be good with outstanding features and recognises that outstanding leadership has led to establishing a good school within a short time. We are excited about building on this strong foundation as we seek to move to outstanding in all areas.
Comments from the report include:
The report also states: There is a clear vision for further improvement and a strong determination to bring this about.
We are delighted that our report includes this comment, because it reflects the aim of our whole school community to move the school forward to be the best it can be for our pupils and families.
We are grateful to our parents, carers and pupils who took the time to speak to inspectors during the inspection. It is fantastic to read on the Ofsted Parent View Survey that 100% of respondents would ‘recommend our school to another parent’.
We have outstanding children at our school and we are very proud of them. They can be pleased to read Ofsted’s report and to know that their excellent approach to school has been acknowledged. With such fantastic children and a strong school community we know that, by God’s grace, Emmanuel Community School will go from strength to strength.
